Diaoyutai MGM Hospitality, a joint venture between China’s Diaoyutai State Guesthouse and the Las Vegas‑based MGM Resorts International (parent of MGM China Holdings), has revealed plans for its luxury “Mirage by MGM Shenzhen” resort in mainland China’s coastal city of Shenzhen. According to a WeChat announcement cited by company president Zhou Feng, the property is expected to begin trial operations in late 2026.
Situated in Xiaomeisha, a scenic beachside district just north of Hong Kong, the 230‑room complex marks the debut of the Mirage brand on the Chinese mainland. This Shenzhen development follows the company's earlier announcement of a second Mirage‑branded property in Shanghai, slated for a 2027 opening.
The July 16 signing ceremony for the Shenzhen project welcomed senior leadership from Diaoyutai MGM Hospitality, along with representatives from Shenzhen Special Economic Zone Development Group Co Ltd and its Xiaomeisha Investment & Development subsidiary. Xiaomeisha Investment, part of the state-owned conglomerate, oversees tourism and leisure in the coastal region where the new resort will rise.
Guests can expect roughly 230 luxury rooms nestled just steps from the existing MGM Shenzhen resort, which launched in 2024. The addition of Mirage signifies what Zhou Feng described on WeChat as a “monumental” moment for the company’s ambitions in the Guangdong‑Hong Kong‑Macau Greater Bay Area.
In May 2025, Diaoyutai MGM Hospitality also unveiled MGM Reserve Zhuhai, their newest brand in Guangdong province. Across China, the venture operates a portfolio of upscale properties including Diaoyutai Hotel, Bellagio by MGM, MGM, Mhub by MGM, and mx by MGM.
Seeking a Las Vegas‑style hospitality experience without gaming, “Mirage by MGM Shenzhen” is positioned as a lavish getaway for both domestic and regional travelers. With trial operations anticipated for Q4 2026, full opening would likely follow in 2027, aligning with the broader mainland rollout of MGM’s Mirage brand in Shanghai and beyond.
As a new beachfront icon in one of China’s fastest‑growing regions, “Mirage by MGM Shenzhen” reinforces Diaoyutai MGM Hospitality’s commitment to luxury hospitality in strategic coastal markets. It is a key chapter in their expanding Greater Bay Area narrative—and one that travelers, industry watchers, and investors alike will be following closely.
