The casino-operation contract between SJM Resorts Ltd. and Macau Legend Development Ltd. has been terminated, and SJM has confirmed that Legend Palace will cease operations at 11:59 p.m. on Wednesday 12 November 2025. According to filings, the early termination of the service agreement takes effect from 13 November 2025, with operations ending the day before.

In preparation for the closure, gaming tables and slot machines currently in use at Legend Palace are to be redeployed to other SJM-operated casinos. The casino emphasises that patrons who have outstanding chips, deposits or rebates will be able to redeem them at other SJM venues beginning 13 November, ensuring customer assets are honoured.

Employee treatment is a key part of the shutdown plan: all 296 direct staff of Legend Palace are to be retained and reassigned within the SJM group, with non-direct employees given priority in applying for other roles within the company. The closure forms part of a broader directive by the Macau SAR government mandating that satellite casinos must cease operations by year-end 2025, with companies taking steps ahead of the deadline.
