In a landmark moment for marine exploration and education, Resorts World Sentosa unveiled the Singapore Oceanarium—a bold transformation of the former S.E.A. Aquarium—in a ceremony on 23 July 2025, followed by its public opening on 24 July. During the event, Tan Sri Lim Kok Thay, Executive Chairman and Acting CEO of Genting Singapore, remarked: “What we’ve created goes far beyond a marine destination – not just in scale, but in ambition and impact,” underscoring the oceanarium’s elevated mission.
Spanning three times the size of its predecessor and encompassing 22 immersive zones, the Singapore Oceanarium guides visitors across thematic journeys—from shallow reefs to prehistoric oceans, native coastal ecosystems to the depths of the open sea. Guests can encounter world‑class exhibits such as Ocean Wonders, with one of the largest kreisel habitats housing thousands of moon jellies, and Open Ocean, where reef manta rays and zebra sharks glide behind a 36‑metre‑wide viewing panel.
Tan Hee Teck, CEO of Resorts World Sentosa, described the facility as “not just a destination, but a catalyst for change, a place where curiosity transforms into knowledge, and knowledge into real action,” reflecting the oceanarium’s purpose-driven ethos. Lam Xue Ying, Vice President of the Singapore Oceanarium, added that the institution aims to “inspire a new generation of ocean stewards” through its enhanced educational and conservation-focused offerings, supported by the adjacent Research and Learning Centre.
The opening ceremony was attended by esteemed guests including Minister Grace Fu, who affirmed that the project reinforces Singapore’s stature as a top tourism destination balancing immersive experiences with environmental stewardship. This development forms part of Resorts World Sentosa’s SGD 6.8 billion expansion plan—known as “RWS 2.0”—which already includes attractions like Illumination’s Minion Land and the revamped WEAVE retail precinct.
As a feature of the broader Marine Life Park, the Singapore Oceanarium builds on the legacy of the S.E.A. Aquarium—once the world’s largest—boasting over 100,000 marine animals across 800 species in nearly 45 million litres of water. With its new zero‑energy learning hub, dynamic installations, and interactive exhibits, the oceanarium emphasizes sustainability and community engagement.
In sum, the Singapore Oceanarium represents a major leap forward in combining entertainment, research, and conservation under one roof. Through its immersive zones and multi-sensory storytelling, it invites visitors to deepen their connection with the ocean—and to become inspired guardians of our planet's precious marine ecosystems.
