The Westside City integrated resort (IR) in Manila is entering its final phases of development, as key interior fitting and “back-of-house” works have reportedly been completed this year, according to Arcadis Philippines Inc. The consultancy has just wrapped up a 64-month engagement on the US$1.25 billion casino complex, having guided it through design, project management, and construction oversight.
By the end of Arcadis’s involvement, the project stood approximately 75 percent complete, with major components delivered and ready for handover to the subsequent management team. Joseph Atabug, the Arcadis Philippines project director on Westside City, emphasized adaptive execution in the face of global disruptions and praised the collaboration among stakeholders. Meanwhile, Suntrust and Travellers International have affirmed their commitment, with Suntrust having subscribed to 400 million shares of Westside Bayshore Holding Corp (representing a 40 percent stake), in a move described as expediting completion.
Despite substantial progress, the project still requires additional capital to reach full completion. Travellers International CEO Nilo Thaddeus Rodriguez estimated that as much as US$450 million remains to be injected, noting the opening is targeted for the third quarter of 2026.
