DigiPlus Foundation has taken another step in advancing digital inclusion in the Philippines with the launch of a new technology centre on Ticao Island, a remote community in Masbate province. The initiative aims to provide residents with access to computers, internet connectivity, and basic digital skills training—resources that have long been limited due to the island’s geographic isolation and infrastructure challenges.

The technology centre is designed to support students, educators, and small entrepreneurs by improving digital literacy and enabling access to online learning, e-government services, and livelihood opportunities. Similar initiatives across rural Philippines have shown that community tech hubs can play a critical role in bridging the digital divide, particularly in island and off-grid areas where connectivity gaps remain a major barrier to economic participation and education outcomes.
This project also reflects a broader trend among gaming and digital entertainment groups in the region to strengthen environmental, social, and governance (ESG) commitments beyond urban centres. Industry observers note that sustained community engagement—rather than one-off donations—is increasingly seen as a key benchmark for meaningful corporate social responsibility. By investing in long-term digital infrastructure and skills development, DigiPlus Foundation’s Ticao Island programme aligns with this shift toward impact-driven, inclusive growth initiatives.
