Macau’s SJM Resorts Ltd has confirmed it will award its eligible workforce a special discretionary bonus equivalent to one month’s salary, recognising their contributions throughout 2025 and aiming to reward staff for their dedication and service. The announcement, made via internal communication and later reported by media outlets, states that the bonus will be paid out on 30 January 2026 to qualified employees, reflecting appreciation for their efforts over the past year.

In an internal email seen by industry news platforms, Managing Director Daisy Ho emphasised that 2025 was an “extraordinary year,” highlighting the company’s operational support in transitioning satellite casinos and completing the strategic acquisition of the L’Arc Hotel Macau. Ho attributed SJM’s resilience and progress in business development to the “steadfast commitment and persistent efforts” of its professional team members, stressing the importance of continued cooperation and excellence in the year ahead.

The discretionary bonus from SJM comes amid a broader trend in Macau’s integrated resort sector, where most of the six major concessionaires have declared similar one-month bonuses for employees as the city’s gaming industry posts strong recovery figures. Industry reports note that operators including Melco and Sands China have also announced one-month bonus payments and, in some cases, additional measures such as salary increases to retain talent and sustain workforce morale.

This latest bonus cycle underscores Macau’s post-pandemic rebound in its gaming and hospitality labour market, where annual discretionary bonuses have become an expected form of employee recognition following successful fiscal years. As the sector continues to grow, such incentives contribute to competitive retention and acknowledge the crucial role staff play in supporting the region’s tourism and entertainment ecosystem.
