Hoiana Resort & Golf, the luxury integrated resort located near Hoi An and Da Nang in central Vietnam, has officially announced a major US$1 billion Phase 2 expansion aiming to significantly grow its tourism and lifestyle offerings. The initiative follows earlier development plans and leadership changes designed to accelerate the project’s build-out and reposition Hoiana as a holistic international destination rather than a casino-centric venue.

The expansive Phase 2, spanning about 209 hectares, will add over 1,000 new five-star hotel rooms and 198 beachfront villas, creating extensive luxury accommodation capacity. A critical component of the plan is a large international convention center capable of hosting up to 2,500 delegates, reflecting Hoiana’s desire to become a competitive hub for meetings, incentives, conferences and events (MICE) tourism in the region.

In addition to expanded lodging and MICE facilities, the development will feature a family-oriented retail and entertainment zone, which is slated to include Vietnam’s first combined outlet mall and duty-free shopping center to broaden non-gaming consumer experiences and boost visitor spend across retail and leisure segments.

Situated to capitalize on the growing interest in golf tourism, the project also includes a second golf course linked to a professional training academy. This facility is designed to issue international golf certifications, enhancing Hoiana’s appeal to both leisure golfers and serious players seeking formal qualifications during their travels.

Phase 1 of Hoiana, which opened in 2020, laid the groundwork for the resort’s market presence with approximately 1,200 rooms, an 18-hole international golf course, and a foreigner-only casino equipped with more than 140 gaming tables and 270 slot machines. This new expansion builds on that foundation by diversifying offerings to attract visitors with varied interests beyond gaming.

Industry observers note that the resort’s updated strategy reflects broader trends in regional tourism, where integrated destinations increasingly blend luxury hospitality, sporting experiences, retail, and event spaces to draw international travelers—and position cities like Da Nang and Hoi An as year-round tourism hubs within Southeast Asia.
