The gaming and leisure company Palasino Holdings Ltd, listed in Hong Kong in March 2024, has announced plans for its fourth casino in the Czech Republic. The new venue — to be named Palasino Mikulov — is located in Mikulov, South Moravia near the Austrian border, and is described as being “under construction” with opening scheduled in the coming months.

This expansion builds on the group’s existing Czech operations, which already include three casinos: Palasino Excalibur City in the Austrian border region, Palasino Wullowitz in South Bohemia, and Palasino Furth im Wald on the German-Czech border. The new casino in Mikulov is described as featuring a design-forward interior, a “premium gaming selection” including slots and live table games such as roulette, blackjack and poker, and ancillary facilities like a bar, buffet restaurant and social spaces.

The timing and strategic location of this expansion reflect Palasino’s ambitions in Central Europe. Its casinos are sited near major cross-border markets (Austria and Germany), thereby tapping both domestic and inbound gaming demand. The group’s financial disclosures show land-based gaming accounted for around 71–74 % of total revenue in the year ended March 2024; the hospitality segment (hotels, catering) made up the balance. The Mikulov property, acquired in February 2024 and initially operating as a shopping centre, is being converted into the new casino.
Challenges for Palasino include rising regulatory and tax pressures: for example, a higher gaming tax rate in the Czech Republic effective 1 January 2024 is expected to weigh on profitability. Meanwhile, growth in slot machine numbers remains a key lever: the number of machines rose from 568 (March 2023) to 630 (September 2024), contributing to increased gaming revenue in the first half of FY2025.
